I am now a simple Grandpa who's life is made richer as each grandchild is born. My wife and I have raised five children and the 30 year love labor of raising them has begun to yield sweet fruit..... And then there are fruits of 30 years in ministry ... I am a satisfied old man full of the joy of the Lord.

World's Smallest Fish

The world's smallest fish has been discovered. It is 6.2 mm long. That is about the same size as this ---- This is an adult and mature (and ugly) fish. But it is amazing to see such a small creature. Think how small of a hook and bait and line would be needed to catch one of these. ;-)
Actually, this is a picture of the female fish. The male fish is the small one. The male is the small appendage on the back of this female. Uff Da !
I am amazed at God's creativity.

At over 7 Ft. and 323 pounds the concept of "heavyweight division" takes on a whole new meaning. Maybe they just need to add a lower weight division called "flea weight" ?

Can anyone say "Mama'?

Wireless Wi-Fi In Minneapolis ?

According to the Minnesota Daily the city of Minneapolis is still planning to go Wi-Fi in the near future. This, in my opinion, would be revolutionary. I would be amazed if it happened because of how it would affect the communications industry. It would be wonderful for the general public.

Here is the article in the Minnesota Daily

I was sent this in an email. I thought it was well worth posting.

A New "Sanhedrin" Estabilished

A new Sanhedrin legal tribunal, similar to the one that existed in the days of Jesus, has been reestablished as expected. (In a prophetic sense) It will convene monthly and issue rulings on issues involving the "Jewish" faith. This is the first time in 1600 years that this tribunal has met. It is made up of 71 "specially ordained" rabbis.

It remains to be seen if this group will remain, or if opposition will arise that will silence their authority. This is just one of a growing number of events that indicate a coming attempt to reestablish full ancient Jewish culture and even temple worship.

You can read about it here.

The 10th Planet Is Named... "Jerusalem"

I am on a 12 day trip to Costa Rica but as I looked at the news tonight I was stunned to find out they had finally named the new "planet" that they found in our solar system. Yes, that is right, they found a new planet. There are no longer 9 planets. Now there are 10. The naming of the planet was delayed after it was found. They wanted to pick the perfect name.

Well, the perfect name has been found. It is Jerusalem. Yep ! That's right. Right along side of Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, there is now Jerusalem. Go figure?

You can read about it all over the internet but here is the article from the Jerusalem Post.

Intelligent Design

Here at the U of MN we are spectators to a one sided fight. Chris Macosko, a Minnesota chemical engineering professor and a public Christian, does not apologize for his thoughts about intelligent design. He does not allow the U to intimidate him back from his belief. He also makes it plain that there is more to science than the evolutionists admit. He teaches a course called, "Origins: By Chance Or Design" Mostly, he just shows the weaknesses in Darwinism.

But this makes another professor at the Universities Morris branch bristle. P.Z. Myers of the Morris Biology Department cannot stand this sort of talk. It must make his ears bleed or something because his reaction to Chris Macosko is way over the top. Maybe he is just using the forthrightness of Mr. Macosko to leapfrog over in his ambition to be the worlds greatest something or the other. Maybe his ambition does not allow others to think differently than himself. Maybe he is just another alpha male who can't help but fight with people he perceives as weaker than he is. i.e. Christians. But I have three words for him..."Let it go. "
You will not catch the disease you so greatly fear.

The whole scientific reaction to Intelligent Design is hard for me to understand. It is as dogmatic, entrenched, and knee jerk as the stereotype of Christian dogmatism was at the Skopes trial. By the simple device of requiring "naturalistic" explanations, all other methods are judged as being "not scientific." Then the hunt and kill begins. P.Z. has called for the university to censure Macosko.

Chris Macosko is a great man. He is loving, kind, reasonable, and is not an air headed space cadet. He doesn't deserve such contempt. Hey P.Z., find something else to do. I thought you atheist guys were all for "free speech" and "open minds."

Here is the article that set me off.

The Coming Islam/Christian Firestorm

There is a firestorm brewing on the horizon. Like a grass fire that is burning at it's edges and has not yet reached it's full potential of flammable mass, there are many fires growing towards the future firestorm.

There are two worldviews on collision course and the worse is yet to come. When the Islamic states were little heard from, the rest of the world went on it's merry way, but due to our need for oil and our desire for marketshare many things are being negotiated right now. Fully 1/3 of the world population is Islamic. This cannot be avoided, like an elephant in the living room, it does the world no good to ignore it.

One British airline that services Saudi Arabia, now requires it's employees to remove all Christian crucifix necklaces etc. before staffing the flight. The are restricted from displaying or reading the bible in flight and the women are required to wear head scarves when they pull this shift. Homosexual flight attendants call in sick when they have this rotation because the penalty for homosexuality in Saudi Arabia is death.

In another item, the 12th Inman is on his way. He is the equivalent of our Messiah or Christ. Although he is a Shiite faith object, much of Islam believes in him and thinks his "return" is soon. I have reported on this in past issues of this blog. He is said to have disappeared or gone into occlusion in 941 AD and is expected to "reappear" any minute now. He will rule for 8 years and bring about a final judgment and the end of the world according to Shiite faith. He is known as the Madhi.

Just as the 2nd coming of Christ affects Christian thinking and decision making, Madhi affects the decisions of the Shiites. This permeates all of the Shiite society which is not just a few people. Islam believes it is destined to rule the world. (As Jews and Christians do also.)

I think God simply knows that it is He who will rule the world. He knows fully what lies ahead and we only know in part. But I believe many will be shocked that it is not them who rule. And the problems it will cause will continue to escalate. I do not see peace in our immediate future. I see a lot of screaming at each other before a false peace comes. This will then give way to the true kingdom of God on the earth. There will only be one King. I don't think He will be called the Madhi. Compromise cannot settle this issue. We all will need a lot of love, mercy, and respect.

Challenging Prayer

Prayer Transformation Ministries sent this out this week. It is a prayer from the 16th century.
It is a powerful tool to focus your life.

Prayer Of Detachment

Deliver me, O Jesus
from the desire of being loved,
from the desire of being extolled,
from the desire of being praised,
from the desire of being preferred,
from the desire of being consulted,
from the desire of being approved,
from the desire of being popular,

Deliver me, O Jesus
From the fear of being humiliated,
From the fear of being despised,
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
From the fear of being forgotten,
From the fear of being wronged,
From the fear of being ridiculed,
from the fear that others may be loved more than I.

Jesus, grant me the grace to desire
That others may be esteemed more than l,
That in the opinion of the world,
Others may increase and I may decrease,
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
That others may be praised and I unnoticed,
That others may become holier than I,
Provided that I may become as holy as I should,

John of the Cross (1542-1591)
