Wallflower Christians Beware

A "Faith" megachurch in the Winston-Salem area is asking many of the folks that attend to leave. They are on a "church drive." The goal is to drive out the "freeloaders" in the church.
They have sent out a letter saying, in essence, "participate or get out."
It seems that the programs and facilities of the church are being exhausted by people who neither tithe or volunteer at the church. The claim is that this energy and resource drag is limiting the church in its ability to reach the lost and truly needy.
Hmmm? Is it truly a matter of too many non-paying members of the country club? Or a real desire to reach the lost and hurting vs. being a blessing to the capable and lazy? Survey says...?

Actually this is from a satire web site. It is not real. But I wish it was.
Here's the real web site.

The joke that shouldn't be.
Sadly enough, I was not surprised at first thinking that this was true. Unfortunately, satire spoofs real life, so there's gotta be a basis behind it out there.
It reminds me of some of Rick Warren's comments recently. He was speaking of the implementation of the Purpose Driven Method in local churches, and he was commenting on resistence from certain members of those local churches. He compared them (faithful Christians like me who just don't like PDL) to the unbelieving Isralites that perished in the desert before the others could enter the Promised Land. That's sick. He said that a church trying to do the Purpose Driven Method will just have to be patient and wait for these nay-sayers to "leave or DIE". That just screams of more concern for a program than for people.
