More Bad Song Lyrics

Here's a line from a song by Norman Greenbaum that was sung over and over for years without understanding....
"Never been a sinner I never sinned
I got a friend in Jesus
So you know that when I die
He's gonna set me up with
The spirit in the sky "
Let's see, what does the bible say? "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

That song by one-hit wonder Norman Greenbaum has been played quite a bit over the years, and that lyric you mention always annoyed me for the reasons you mention.
