I am now a simple Grandpa who's life is made richer as each grandchild is born. My wife and I have raised five children and the 30 year love labor of raising them has begun to yield sweet fruit..... And then there are fruits of 30 years in ministry ... I am a satisfied old man full of the joy of the Lord.

What In The World Is Holy?

A Barna survey shows that most American people have no idea what the concept of "holy" is. One out of five think that they are holy but most cannot give it a good definition. 73% think that a person can become holy, regardless of their past. 50% think they know someone who is holy.

The survey also asked the participants to define holy. 21% admitted that they could not do it. 19% said that it was being "Christ like." 18% said it is "making faith your top priority."

There is certainly a great need to give Americans a better understanding of the significance of holiness and why they should want it.

Here is the study.

I am somewhat shocked that 19% would define holiness as "Christ like." I wouldn't think 19% would even know that term. What is your definition of holiness?

i agree that holiness is christ-like...however...according to its greek translation (hogaismos) holiness is sanctification...untainted by sin, essentially perfect....we however are holy, but not yet holy....in other words we as humans should be in pursuit of holiness, but in God's eyes we are already perfect...
